The Photographers' Gallery, founded in 1971, has been instrumental in establishing and promoting the names of contemporary British photographers including Martin Parr and Fay Goodwin.

More recently, the gallery has introduced significant international artists working with photography, such as Rineke Dijkstra, Annelies Strba, Catherine Opie and Boris Mikhailov, to audiences in Britain.
